132+ Situps

     It all started with this bag of Easter candy:

A few days ago I posted a picture on my Facebook page. It was a picture of a guy doing a situp that I added some text to. The text indicated that for every “like” that the picture received, I would do two situps. My main reason for posting that image to begin with was because I had just been to Walmart and I purchased some delicious Easter candy. I figured that if I was going to eat that Easter candy, I should probably do some extra exercise for it. I decided I would do some situps, but I didn’t know how many I should do. So I left it in the hands of fate (and my nearly 600 Facebook friends.)

As you can see, the image got 66 people to “like” it. Originally there were only 57 of my friends who clicked the “like” button by the deadline of April 1 at 11:59:59pm. After I commented on the picture and let everyone know that I would be completing the 114 situps and I would record them, that seemed to generate a little more interest in the picture and 9 more people liked it. I figured I would accept their challenge, even though they couldn’t follow the rules. 132 situps is what I was challenged to do! 🙂

Now, 132 situps might not sound all that bad, but it was bad timing for me.  This morning when I got home from work I completed day 80 of P90X.  Day 80 included Back, Biceps and Ab Ripper X!  Ab Ripper X (for those of you who don’t know) is a 16 minute ab killer.  It is over 300 abdominal exercises jam packed into 16 minutes of pure torture!  Normally that wouldn’t be so bad, but I was going to do this and the extra situps for eating that Easter candy?!  I’m not so sure it was worth eating the candy now!

The original length of the video was just over 7 minutes, so I’m estimating that I took approximately 6-6 1/2 minutes to complete the 150 situps. Nothing earth-shattering, but I did all 150 of them! The situps in the middle I sped up, just so you didn’t have to sit through all that time. The credits at the end of the video added a couple minutes as well.

After finishing these situps I was extremely sore. I made sure to go home and take some Catalyst (to aid in muscle recovery) and a hot shower! I’m sure I’ll be feeling it tomorrow, more so than I am right now but hey, that’s what it’s all about! Be on the lookout for a similar picture on Facebook, but this time it’ll either be for pushups or burpees!
